Book Review - Timeless Heart

From time to time I will post some book reviews here. Although I am no expert in the art of reviewing, I do know what I like and cannot think of a better book to begin with than this one by my friend and blog buddy Karyn Gerrard.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I have always been enamored with the idea of time travel and will admit to having fantasized about traveling back in time. In my imaginings things always ended up exciting, dangerous, and romantic. Timeless Heart captures the essence of my fantasies.

Jerrod Ross, a squire from 1821 is traveling with three other passengers in a carriage when caught in a severe storm. That storm propels him to the 21st century. Sandra Cranston, a school teacher on leave discovers his carriage and the romance novel worthy Jerrod and nurses him back to health. Along the way to finding a method of returning Jerrod to his own world, these two develop an attraction for each other that transcends time and distance. I adored the humor and wit from both characters, the engaging plot and the incredibly hot and sensual love scenes! Sandra's spirit and Jerrod's wonder at all the modern conveniences (I would hate to pay Sandra's water bill) were adorable.

One of my favorite passages:

"What is your name, sir?" the woman asked in a cool tone.

How officious she sounded. He supposed it was all he deserved, as he was treating her like some servant.
Jerrod lay back down. He was in discomfort. "My name is Jerrod Ross, Squire from Pendern Hall. And who might you be, madam?"

"I? I am Sandra Cranston, Mistress of the walk-up second story flat,” she replied coldly.

My only regret - it was over all too soon! If you are a fan of Time Travel and of romance, this should be in your "to be read" pile.

  1. You're welcome! I definitely need more practice writing reviews. It isn't enough to say I loved it - just because. It is a lot like writing a story or book. You need to practice and put thought into it. I actually stumbled trying to write a brief summary by chapter so I could track where I was and not stray from the path to the end.

  2. Hi there!

That was a very thoughtful and very well written review! You did good:)

I, as you, just loved the story and I'm looking forward to reading more from Karyn. BTW: I'm glad I stopped by, because now I have a new blog to visit:)

My review is on my blog at
and you're welcome to stop by any time and check out some of my first reviews from November 2010. I read them once in a while and I can tell you, the more you write them the better you get at it, and I'm toying with the idea of writing a short story....I never knew that writing could be so much fun:)

    Take care of U!

  3. Hi Melanie! First of all let me thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. It is much appreciated!

I am looking forward to more by Karyn as well. She breathes life into characters and I have no doubt the wit she infuses in them is all hers. Very talented writer.

I admit that reviewing a book is much more difficult than I anticipated and coming from you, the compliment is an honor. I have read some of your reviews and admit I have read some books based on what you said about them. Hopefully, one day you will be reviewing one of mine! *crosses fingers*
